In the summer of 2025 Lobster Studios invited me for a 3-week artist residency at L44 Space in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The project was inspired by Bulgarian culture and after a few chats with the team, we landed on Kukeri: an ancient tradition in Bulgaria mostly taking place at the start of the year, where people dress up in masks and elaborate costumes and dance to ward off spirits. I love dance, and I was really inspired by the way the Kukeri moved, so we decided to explore this with animation.
